i am definitely new to recording sound separate with video...could someone give me some suggestions about good digital camcorder/mic combos,links that will help explain everything,and anything additional...thanks

Just please, for the love of God, use a clapperboard to sync the sound... we learnt this the hard way [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img]

yeah,before i can use any clapperboard to sync sound,i have to record good,quality sound. now....i would just like some suggestions on good camera/mic combos and any links that will go into detail about digital filmmaking and sound/mixing...thanks

Here are a couple of simple rules. Do not use a microphone mounted to the camera. (for ENG style of interviews, the mike on the camera can be acceptable. for picking up overall ambient sounds, microphone on the camera can be acceptable as long as the camera is not picking up the sound of the drum head spinning)

Everytime the camera changes positions, the sound characteristics and accoustics will change if the microphone is left on the camera. (just imagine your sound if you are panning the camera, yeesh!)

Use XLR inputs and outputs, and do slate your shots at the front and back of each take.
